Kelly Rowland Covers JET Magazine

Ms. Kelendria Rowland is featured on the Dec. 26, 2011/Jan. 2, 2012 issue of JET Magazine. Within the magazine, Kelly discusses some of her obstacles, triumphs, and successes from 2011. After only selling 178,000 copies of her album, “Here I Am”, the singer commented, “I am very happy with the album. Period. It was a long time coming and I am proud that Motivation was nominated for a Grammy; it’s been a really great year.” JET noted that the statement came after a brief pause, and annoyance in the singers voice. She then went on to discuss her growth since Destiny’s Child, and as a solo artist. Kelly, recently, has been touring in Europe, as well as judging on Britain’s X Factor. Recently, the singer teamed up with Jeanette Jenkins, ex girlfriend of rapper/actress Queen LaTifah, to make a workout DVD. Her New Year’s Resolutions consist of having an album in the top 5 on the charts, and growing closer to her natural father who she will be introduced to for the first time this holiday season.
NOW! Let’s talk about this cover! It is clear that Kelly has had a difficult time standing next to Beyonce on several levels, and it shows on this cover. Unlike her Summer JET cover, Kelly looks unhealthily skinny and stressed. The photo is unbecoming. Period. Kelly is serving face, but after that, there is no more! It seems like, more and more, Kelly is trying to show that she is NOT in Beyonce’s shadow, nor is the competing with her former group member. YOU WIN KELANDRIA! However, inside the magazine, Kelly looks stunning in strapless sequin dress (which is IN this season, ladies!). Leave your comments on how you feel about her photo, and her recent trend as a solo artist. Success? or ‘You tried your best’? Follow me on Twitter for this and MORE #TEA! @iGotTeaATL
